Our school, situated on approximately half an acre of land is surrounded by a boundary wall. It is consisted of five buildings. There is not enough space to build new buildings with the lengthy shape of the land. There is an assembly hall, computer room, library, dancing room, science lab for O-Level students, music room, and a mathematics room. Additionally, there are only three seperate classrooms, with three more classrooms held in the main hall. The school is equipped with sufficient sanitary facilities to maintain a usable standard.
Although creating a pleasant learning environment is essential, the school faces shortages in both physical resources and financial support.
This is a mixed school and there are classes from grade 1 to grade 11, and about 247 students. Despite being a Catholic school, it provides education to multicultural students, where 99% of the students are coming to the school from families with low income.
Many students suffer from poor nutrition, and a significant number come from challenging home environments, often lacking proper parental care due to issues like migration and family disputes. Consequently, these children show a low interest in learning, and they receive minimal support from their families. Their parents or guardians are engaged in low-paying daily wage jobsso that they maintain limited interaction with the school. Frequent flooding also affects student attendance adversely. About 90% of the students lack future goals or ambitions and also around 35 female students are attending to the school who have experienced various abuses and residing in a church-affiliated children's home.
Further, lack of student attendance, students dropping out after grades 8,9 and 10 to seek employment can also be seen contributing to a lower student retention rate and affecting overall academic performance. Although about 1% of students achieve high grades, the overall pass rates for both grade 5 scholarship exams and O-Levels remain low. Despite this, efforts are being made and several projects are being handled to help students to achieve good grades in ordinary level exam and to develop well disciplined, courteous students who can positively contribute to the Maboala region's society by the current principal and the teachers. However, limited resources in the school hinder the students' ability to elevate co-curricular and extra-curricular activities to a national level. The school lacks a playground, primary play area, and even a sufficient open space for outdoor classrooms.
